iTunes Essential Movie of the Week (UK) - Pitch Black £4.99

After taking a week off to enjoy a holiday Mac & Forth is back at it, kicking the new week off with the iTunes Essential movie of the week. This week, listed under their Essential collection, they are listing Pitch Black for £4.99. Also, this week, we finally see the release of Rogue One - A Star Wars Story for £13.99.

Pitch Black- £4.99

A fun sci-fi/action/adventure/horror movie with Vin Diesel in the leading role. His first outing as Riddick introduced the antihero to the world as he and a band of crash wreaked survivors try to remain alive on an alien planet that has a nasty surprise waiting for them when the suns go down and the world is plunged into pitch black.

When their ship crash-lands on a remote planet, the marooned passengers soon learn that escaped convict Riddick (Vin Diesel) isn't the only thing they have to fear. Deadly creatures lurk in the shadows, waiting to attack in the dark, and the planet is rapidly plunging into the utter blackness of a total eclipse. With the body count rising, the doomed survivors are forced to turn to Riddick with his eerie eyes to guide them through the darkness to safety. With time running out, there's only one rule: Stay in the light. Pitch Black is the original sci—fi hit that introduced the world to the character of Riddick, the ultimate anti-hero. Take a ride on the pulse-pounding adrenaline rush that USA Today calls "the best excuse to root for the bad guy since Arnold in the original Terminator."

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - £13.99

Also, as I'm a bit of a Star Wars fan, I'm happy to see Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is finally available in the iTunes Store. I have been biting at the bit for this to be released and the fact that our American friends got it a few weeks ago did not grate on my bones in the slightest...honest.

Anyway, now you can witness the action and adventure as a ragtag ensemble of unlikely heroes try to secure the secret plans of the Empires most terrifying weapon to date, the Death Star.

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars stand—alone films — Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than
themselves.

Note: Much has been made of certain scenes in the trailer not actually appearing in the movie. This was supposedly due to various reshoots before the movie was released.
