Epic Resubmits Fortnite

Will Epic Games finally secure a Victory Royale on the US App Store? After years of legal battles, Epic Games has, once again, submitted Fortnite for review today. You have to admire their tenacity, but will this bold move lead to success, or will Apple maintain its firm stance?

Epic Games confirmed the news via a tweet from the official Fortnite account. They stated simply:

"We've submitted Fortnite to Apple for review so we can launch on the App Store in the U.S. - Fortnite (@Fortnite) May 9, 2025."

This direct announcement follows extensive legal wrangling over App Store policies. Apple previously terminated Epic's developer account. The Digital Markets Act in Europe recently forced changes, allowing alternative app marketplaces there. Epic did launch its Epic Games Store on iOS in Europe. This fresh US submission, however, directly challenges Apple on its home turf once more.

This resubmission today could significantly impact App Store commissions and developer relations. If Apple approves Fortnite, it might signal a major shift. Users could finally see Fortnite return directly to their iPhones and iPads. This would eliminate reliance on cloud streaming workarounds. However, Apple's response is the multi-billion dollar question. Approval could encourage other developers. A rejection might ignite further legal or regulatory battles, keeping this saga firmly in the headlines.

This audacious play by Epic certainly ups the ante.
